At Ridge Medical Associates, we perform in office ultrasounds of gall bladder, abdomen, carotid arteries, lower extremity veins, and arteries. Our clinics are located in Lake Wales & Davenport, FL. An ultrasound is carried out by one of our trained health professionals. This test takes approximately 30 minutes. We have an expert team of nurses, technologists, and physicians who are highly trained and experienced in ultrasound imaging.
What is an abdominal ultrasound?
Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to produce images. An abdominal ultrasound is a type of imaging test which helpdoctorsto look at the organs and structures inside the abdomen. It produces pictures of certain organs and structures in the upper abdomen, including the kidneys, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, abdominal aorta and other blood vessels. It is used to help diagnose a variety of conditions, such as
- Abdominal pain or distention
- Abnormal liver function
- Enlarged abdominal organs
- Stones in the gallbladder or kidney
- An aneurysm in the aorta
An abdominal ultrasound has no risk, it is a safe and painless test. Unlike CT scans or X-rays, it does not expose you to radiation.
Do not eat or drink for eight hours before your test. You can drink water to take medication. Please wear comfortable clothing. Leave your jewelry and other valuable things at home.
